Florence Nightingale's Life Story is very inspiring. As a nursing student, it really inspires me to continue my desire to be a nurse someday. it teaches me how to be strong and to be a good servant of the peole. I'm a follower of Nightingale from now until I finished my course. I think nobody can replace Nightingale. I wish I could be like her. I'm a "fan" of Florence Nightingale. For her life story, she is deserving to be called as the Matriarch of Modern Nursing.

Ms. Danela, I thank you for giving us the chance to watch the life story of Nightingale. I also thank you for giving us inspirational messages which really inspires me. I hope you will post more articles and movie in this blogspot.

tnx...

The story of the lady with the lamp gave me more ideas about nursing and its essence to every person. It also bares me to know that Florence Nightingale is against the Germ Theory that she just focuses on the environment as the core of human health. Also, she didn't acquire the adaptation theory of Sister Calista Roy because she just focuses on the health and recovery of the patient and not on their likes and feelings. Im very thankful to the one who made us watch this clips, Mrs. Oloresisimo.

Good afternoon ma'am, thank you for showing to us the life of Florence Nightingale. It is really inspiring.
She is such a well educated women. She is a good model for me to pursue my dream and that dream is to be a registered nurse someday.
Nightingale is a simple women. No matter how rich she is, no matter what she had, her concern is still for those people who needs her service. This is what I have learned, give my service for those people who needed me in order for them to feel my concern and to give importance even we're not related to each other.

It touches me a lot...
Her life was a meaningful one.
Florence Nightingale is an extraordinary woman. She is caring and loving, yet a very strong one. Serving people is her top priority.

I thought that being a nurse was just caring for patients...
After seeing that movie, well I realize that I am absolutely wrong.
It gives me a deeper meaning of the word "nursing". . .

mam dani, thank you for showing us that kind of movie... It helps me a lot to understand why I choose nursing, and that is to serve people,be part of their lives and having them is really a treasure. . .

thanks mam...".)

Florence Nightingale's aristocracy provided her with prodigious opportunity to acquire pedagogy and through that she was able to utilize her nursing interventions with knowledge in the case of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.

It was awful to envisage how the inept approach of the Bristish Parliament put its men in the verge of total death by relinquishing the proper supplies intended for the maximum recuperation of their soldiers. It was during Nightingale that she managed to render utmost care for the casualties by proper sanitation and conducive environment.

In the modern day scenario the Environmental Theory, I believe, is the structural pillar of the efficient nursing practice. It has gone to inspire some other theories in which the primary concern is for the care of the ailing patients. Indeed, that cleanliness is the necessary practice to avoid getting sick.

To our instructor, you have endowed us a more diverse look on the life of Florence Nightingale which truly makes her a bona fide nurse by profession. Thanks,

"Caring is the essence of nursing."
We serve because we care.
Florence Nightingale`s life proved that service is not a matter of who you are or what can you get in return. The most
important thing is, you give care out of your desire and passion to serve those people who are in need.
Its very amazing how an Aristocrat Victorian leave all her comforts and go on to serve the british soldier of the crimean war, Because of what she called "the calling".God called her to be in service. Her works,
researches and theory, served as
a foundation not only for better nursing care/practice, but in education and research as well.
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Mrs.Danela Oloresisimo for providing us this collection of movie clips, and for
lending us her helping hands. I also thank her for sharing her expertise.thank you ma`am.

Before, I thought that being a nurse is just an ordinary job where you just need to take care of your patients. But after watching a film viewing about the life of Florence Nightingale,I understand and realized so many things about my chosen course. Her works are touchable for those who appreciates the essence of nursing.

She is admirable for her determination and perseverance to get what she wanted to be..A nurse! She spent her entire whole life in serving others. Her bravery and greatness in helping sick and wounded soldiers during the Crimean War is incomparable and unsurpassed.

For us nursing students, her theory and contribution to nursing will help us a lot in guiding our practice and will serve as a stepping stone to reach our goals in life..To be an effective nurse who will always be a part of his/ her patient's life.

Thus, I can say that Florence Nightingale, "The Lady with the Lamp" is a certified hero of her time..A hero today..And still be a hero tomorrow.

To our TFN instructor, Mrs. Danela Oloresisimo, I thank you so much for giving us this kind of opportunity to express our ideas and understanding on your topic. May you find more effective and approachable ways that will help us to understand your subject. It's interesting! Thanks again!:)

The lady with a lamp can really enlighten everyone. Florence Nightingale's life story motivates me a lot. After seeing the film, it makes me want to be a nurse...even more.
Nightingale, instead of living like a typical aristocrat Victorian woman, took the path that leads to public service which is really great about her. Imagine, a woman who grows without the word "hardship" in her dictionary chose to give up everything for the benefit and to serve others (even in her expense).
Even though she doesn't apply too much of the nurse-patient relationship, still she care for them that shows through her actions.

Now, nursingis not just a course that will give me a job someday, but a devotion to serve and to help others.

Ma'am, thank you for introducing me Florence Nightingale! I hope I can get to know more persons that greatly influenced the nursing world through you.

A pioneering nurse, writer and a noted statistician - that's how we can describe Florence Nightingale who came to be known as "The Lady With a Lamp". Inspired by what she called as the Christian Divine calling, her heart was really into Nursing. Even though her family opposed and discouraged her at first with regards to the decisions on her chosen field, in the end, her strong passion to serve prevails.

Florence Nightingale committed herself to serve humanity. I salute her for that! She showed exemplary performances regarding to her great contributions to the field of Nursing. That's how a real service should be. One that should be given wholeheartedly without asking for anything in return. Even though all of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War were strangers to her, it didn't become a hindrance to her part to render service and care for the sick. She's really one of a kind. She was termed as "The Lady with a Lamp" because she used her lamp as instrument in checking the condition of the wounded individuals during those times.

Moreover, the quality nursing care Nightingale has rendered to many sick people was truly appreciated and noted. That was really great!

Her story marked a soft spot in my heart. Her struggles to prove her worth are really inspiring. The difficulties and obstacles she had faced were the ones that made her to be a more strong person, yet a loving one.

As a neophyte to this field, I can say that now, as days pass by, especially the time I watched the life of Nightingale, I am now aware regarding the profession I chose. Quality nursing care, service from the bottom of our hearts and respect for everyone's individuality rolled into one should always be kept in mind. All of those qualities were possessed by Florence Nightingale and I adhere to be like her when my time comes. I admire her a lot!

To our instructor, Ms. Oloresisimo, a heartfelt thanks Ma'am. You've been our instrument to know Florence Nightingale deeper. And with that, our minds were now somewhat aware regarding the realities on our chosen profession. Maybe someday, we would also be like her. A health care provider who would render a real service for everybody regardless with their race and nationality.

Once again, thanks a lot Ma'am!

the life of this heroine really deserves a page in the history especially in the field of nursing. she didnt only saved millions of dying soldiers during the crimean war but also provides nurses a deeper understanding about giving care and hope to the patients. her life story costs much more than what was asked by the dealer, because a story like hers is priceless....her contributions were very useful and applicable in our present situation, were there is a wide spread of disease because of untidy environment.

as a freshman, it pays to know the life of the florence nightingale..because it serves as an inspiration for students like me who's willing to follow the path the she has created...

The Lady with a Lamp, the mother of modern nursing, the only FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE she is known to be the inspiration of many because of her greatness and sustained passion to give care for the people and because she being born as a Victorian or having the chance to study never been a hindrance for her will to be a nurse and now that we know what she really was it is never impossible for us to also be inspired by her to reach the goals we endeavor.

We the first year nursing students of Southern Luzon State University are very lucky to have the opportunity to have an extension class in the internet to learn beyond the four walls of our classroom and watch the life of Florence Nightingale "Lady with a lamp" because it is not enough to just read and read because even if we just visualize it on our own it would show different ideas that can be a hindrance for a better understanding but with that short film it did a good job to let us feel and be somehow part of that moment wherein the mother of modern nursing is doing a great job caring for those people that have been affected by the Crimean war.

Thank you so much and hope we have another interesting discussion on Wednesday.
God Bless.

I'm so inspired and amaze in the story of Florence Nightingale. Her story helps me to know and understand how nurses is very important to every people's life and health. Also it helps me to study hard and love my nursing course. It inspired me because she shows us how dedicated and how she love's her work as a nurse. And she amaze me the most is by pursuing her profession to her father even though he don't like her to be a nurse and the people around her, because it is only suitable work for the poor people. But she sacrifice her wealthy life just to be a nurse.

Because of Florence Nightingale the Nursing Profession was born.It was born because of her contributions in nursing. I know because of this, many people was very thankful to her, and I'm one of them. I wish i could be like her, as all nurse students wants.

And for my adviser Mrs. Danela, i would like to thank you for the apportunity you gave us to know Florence Nightingale and by sharing your knowing about her.

Florence Nightingale is really an amazing woman.Even though she is a aristocrat victorian she chose to serve people, give aid to them and gave all that she can give to them. And even she's a woman she begged her father to let her study in School and to be a nurse.
She didn't mind the society that is all againt her works.
She inspired me most when she chooses her dedication for the needy rather than their wealth,hr precious life that anybody wants to have.
But one thing that I will never forget about her is that she doesn't believe in germs, that it causes the disease of peoples.

Ma'am thank you po sa lahat ng ginagawa mo para sa amin. I know you will get all the details that you can get to help us learn more about our topics and lessons.

She is truly a prodigy nurse.

watching the movie clips that you prepared for us is really nerve wrecking......

it taught me different realizations of life..i had learned that wealth is useless if you feel that God had a different purpose for your life.like florence did, she gave up all of her wealth just to fulfill her dreams and to follow His calling. also, i learned that even all of the people is against your will, just follow what you want for your life and be inspired with what yor doing.

about her life, i was astonished by her high intellectual. she was good because she taught in other ways. she used her knowledge in helping the needy people. she also acquired many skills which any woman cant afford to have. i am also her fan because she amazed me in a way that she didnt stop unless she was happy and contented. i think she was not contented bedore with her rich and happy life that's why she looked for something-and that is to serve people. she left her aristocratic Victorian life to help the wounded soldiers. i am really impressed by her personality, the only problem is her attitude which is kinda bossy.

to our instructor, Mrs. Oloresisimo, thanks a lot for providing ideas and knowledge like this. your mission for us was implemented and that is to teach us and helped us in understanding the lesson and to be engaged in modern technology.

Ms. Dani, you are really good!i say this not because i am your student but because you touch our life and mind in every unique ways.

her theory give everyone specially us new nursing student, the knowledge on how to interact with the patient... it was really the best theory for me because it is about the behavior of the patient and nurse, how we interact with them, how to help them when they really need it.
it gives me an idea of what will i do during my duty this coming semester. hildegard'd theory is really a great cobtribution in nursing..it make's me enjoy my studies.

WhoAaa!!I was astonished with enthusiasm!!
Ms. Nightingale became a best actress in role of her life because of her contributions for our Profession. Nightingale became a role model for each nursing student. As what I had observed in our last film viewing, Education has a significant factor in establishing our profession. The efficacy of her knowledge in field of languages Philosophy, Religion and Mathematics became her foundation in building her social and professional skills. She was really fortunate during her time because gaining knowledge is exceptional for women. And we must be inspired and proud of these evidences not only now and then that we are standing as a nursing student but also the way that we act behind our profession.

“Action for the benefit of others is a primary way of serving God”
I admired in these belief!!
I am also a religious person and I chose Nursing as my profession because these are where my heart belongs and I love taking care of others as well as Serving God in this simple way. She became dedicated to her profession until she died. She do not have a reason to stop loving of it, instead she maximize her skills and spread it throughout the world where she received awards and called "The Lady of the Lamp" .She chose her career than to have her own family. But, maybe she is destined to be one but not alone because of this passion. Maybe if she chose to live with her own family, she might not be the “Matriarch of Modern Nursing”.

We must keep the flame of our torch burning!!!!
~~Ma’am DANI,,I raised two thumbs up for your creativity in our lessons!!
I gained a lot of knowledge from it.And I am imagining of myself as Florence Nightingle of my own (haha)

Florence Nightingale the matriarch of Nursing. (A brief background)
She was born in Florence Italy, on May 12, 1820. As she grew up her father provided her with her wants one and most important to her is education. Florence Nightingale believe that anyone should be educated specially the women and the poor. She is also against inequality among the rich and the poor as well. According to our CI, Mrs. Danella Oloresisimo, when she was a kid she had a playmate, that playmate was the daughter of their maid. She and her playmate always play together until one sad day Nightingale's grand mom saw them and her grand mom is an aristocrat who is against poor people so Nightingale and her friend separated and since that day she promise to fight for the poor and for the women. After that at her college years she studied at first nursing school in Germany. After 3 months she was considered as a nurse and then a new adventure was about to start in her life. After that Florence Nightingale had been part of the Crimean War. She was known as the lady with the lamp because of her routes in the night. After the war she went back to Britain where she was awarded many awards for her skills and works during the Crimean war. She died at the age of 90 on August 13, 1910 at her sleep.

For me Florence Nightingale is a true model of nursing .She was considered the matriarch cause of her works not only that but because of her theory."The Environmental Theory”. Her beliefs are astonishing and can never be replaced by anybody.

Hildegard Elizabeth Peplau's life was an interesting one. As her young age, she experience the difficulty of having a disease together with her family and other people. And she promise to her self from that experience that she's going to be a nurse so that no one will experience the same thing she experienced.

I admired her for being an achiever. She received the award that a nurse could ever achieve in life, the 'Christiane Reimann Prize'. I think she's really a hardworking person and I admire and praise her works. And she's a brave person for she became a military nurse during World War II.
Hilda is a great person,a great nurse and a great individual.

And again,Ma'am Danela thank you for a very nice discussion about Hildegard Peplau.

A true exemplar of pure service.. Florence Nightingale, despite of her social status, she pursue her aspirations to serve the victim of the Crimean War without asking something in return. She portays a role of dignity, humility and unconditional service which what I personally admire most. I think that these characteristics of her is not only beneficial for the nursing practice itself, rather, this is what our nation is needed especially nowadays.

Aside from this, she rationally utilized what she have learned from her education to her practice in nursing profession, resulting to her polar diagram. Being a student, intelligence and smartness is not measured thru only examinations but more on application. Although no I.Q. test proved her intellectual edge, with her applying what she have learned, she is a genius.

Environmental Theory is what Nightingale's more known for. Practically, it is not only the nursing professional who uses this theory. It is evident that everybody is using her theory because it is not only for sanitary purposes and health goals but now for the beautification of the surroundings and it reflects our personality as well. If we live in an environment of cleanliness, we don't only promotes personal health but we also show care for our environment and people that surrounds us.

Florence Nightingale, the Matriarch of Modern Nursing, may have flaws in her service but her contribution is advantageous enough for the the humanity and for the Nursing Profession. She answer God's calling, she became an ambassadress of true service.

The life of the self-sacrificing, aristrocrat woman who threw aside the plesures of a life of ease to cure patients truly inspires me. She did not nurse for money nor awards as some do today. She truly cared and made a difference to all she nursed and taught to nurse. And because she's also a feminist, she opened the door for women for them to seek and pursue their own desired profession. I think we are really lucky to have her because she built a good foundation for the nursing profession.

Hildegard Peplau is the mother of the psychiatric nursing. She was very educated. In fact, she was a great achiever. She was the proponent of the Psychodynamic theory in nursing. She focused on the relationships of the nurses with the patients. She also introduced the use of stress management. She was very dedicated to the nursing profession. She served until the last moment of her life. Acoording to her, Nursing is like a music, and that song is " I will be here..." I want to follow Hildegard Peplau's theory of Stress Management, I want to be out of stress and I don't like to cause stress to others.

She gave a helping hand and forget her wealth just to helped the humanity. She deserves the title of Matriarch of Modern Nursing.......

Wow... that's all I can say....

I think everyone have indicated every adjective that can best describe HER-- FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE...

Frankly speaking... As far as "humanity" is concerned...There aren't any existing words/terminologies worthy enough to depict and define a woman
who transformed the "nursing profession" into a "LEGACY of CARE"...

Florence's biography did not only inspired me as a student.. nevertheless... she has given an opportunity for me to learn and continue what she have started...

A channel in which I would pass through in the long run and a dimension of knowledge and wisdom which i would dwell within...

Florence was not only a "legend" she is an epitome of true nursing care and genuine knowledge...

Knowing that she was an
"aristocrat "and a "victorian"
at the same time... instead of "being served", she didn't hesitate to sacrifice her marital status hence, served the needy beyond her best capabilities...

I don't know FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE personally... but if I would be given a chance to live in her time... that would be really "amazing"... imagine.. being there.. and witnessing firsthand how Florence started the revolution of nursing care....

To end this short comment...
I would just like to extend my deepest gratitude to our beloved lecturer, Mrs. Danela Oloresisimo. For being the FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE of Southern Luzon State University... though, she's not the "lady with lamp" for me, she would "always be my baby" kidding!! seriously..
she would always be "the lady who every nursing freshmen must look up to"... thank you ma'am, more power... less stress... and GODBLESS...

Florence Nightingale’s life was astonishing like what other says she deserves a line in the history. Nightingale was Nightingale itself; no one can ever replace her. Although she came from a well-known family, she never treated anyone in a terrible way. Her life serves as an inspiration for us to continue dreaming and do the best we can to achieve our goals. As a nursing student, I know it was so difficult for us to adjust in unusual kind of environment especially in different system of education. If you are not strong enough to handle your emotions and the pressures, it might cause your failure. However, after watching the life of Florence Nightingale my heart was touched then it brings lot of inspiration. She was different, she makes other people think or realize things with its purpose. She is absolutely one of a kind, before for me nursing is just simply the same as caring but Nightingale prove me wrong.
Thanks a lot Ma’am Dani for giving us the opportunity to watch the story about the life of Florence Nightingale and for always sharing your experiences in regards to make us inspired at all times.(o_o)

Florence Nightingale's story inspires me a lot, her theory made me realize the importance of the environment and its proper sanitation that affects our health.

I idolizes her very much! although she has everything, and her parents opposed her decision of becoming a nurse, she still believed in herself and to her desire to serve people especially the sick and poor. she didn't served b'coz of money or whatever, it's because of her passion to her work and love for others. I'd say she also has the gift of giving, she even used her own money in order to provide the things that the soldiers needed. Nightingale contributed a lot in the nursing community. I consider her as a heroine, she had shown me the 'true' essence of becoming a nurse, I want to be like her and to serve people who needs my care. =))

I think that this article is very inspring for me as a student, because I learned that If there a will, there's a way. Because in the movie there is a short scene that Florence Nightingale is convincing her father to let her to study, eventhoough she is an aristocrat person and also a victorian for which is uncommon for them. And Also, it helps me to study hard and in order for me to achieve my victory. And I also find out that the story of the of "how she has become the lady with the lamp" because I pictured it in another way and for this i find it a very intriguing story mam.

Thank You Mam for this article. I wish you luck in finding more scenes in the movies you are suppose to upload.......

the story of Nightingale's life is really inspiring. Her love for caring others was seen in this video clip. She did her best in order for the english soldiers to recover from their suffering. She also trained nurses. Though she belongs to a rich family she finds her way to enter the school of nursing even her family didn't want so,because as a belief victorian women are for house only and must not study since they don't need it,they have enough money for living, but she persue being a nurse. This thing shows that nothing hinders if you really want something. She also uses her huge knowledge in other aspects of nursing.(statistics, philpsoply, research and writings)

She is really one of the best person in this profession. Without her maybe, Today's nursing wouldn't be what it is today.we must be thankful cause there's a nightingale in the line of nursing profession.

good afternoon ma'am,

Florence Nightingale's story is very touching and inspiring. As the way I saw it, being a new student in the nursing curriculum, it gives me the purpose to continue to finish my studies and become a successful nurse in the future. I learned form her story that even if you are rich or poor, everyone have their rights to be care and cure by the nurse. She did not consider the status of the person she intervene. She made the nursing profession possible by creating her own theory, The Environmental Theory, that focus on the environment of the community or a specific place that require proper sanitation to make the community healthy. She is deserving to be "The Mother of Modern Nursing"..

thank you for letting us to gain knowledge to the life of Florence Nightingale..its a life-long gratitude for me to see the life of a legendary nurse like her.....

but seriously, for all theoretical foundations of nursing students, it's a box office!

it gave us a chance to know the 'mother of modern nursing' in a more interesting way.

"the lady with the lamp" is absolutely correct, when she stated that the environment greatly affects the patient.

even though she didn't believe the existence of 'germs', her theory is very much accepted in the nursing field.

Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing, really was a true hero. All her life she dedicated it to the nursing profession. Eventhough she is an aristocrat and a victorian woman. She has a very inspiring life. She discover the "Environmental Thoery" which guides nurses and nursing students to their practice. This theory helps her to take good care of the soldiers and lessen the death rate of the soldiers at the war hospital.Today, this theory guides the nurses and nursing student to take good care of their patients. They provide the proper caring the patient need as well as the environment that they should have.

Mrs. Danela Oloresisimo, I'm very thankful for teaching us this theory by Florence Nightingale. Through this theory all of us can really used this theory during our clinical practice and even we are not in the hospital.I hope you will post some articles about all the nursing theorist that would help us during our clinical practice.

florence nightingale-
_i had a very vivid memory and i really could say that this name has been already encountered and saved in me since my elementary years for i had read an excerpt of her life in one of the textbooks in English.

_a victorian and a "royal-blooded" woman who spent a lifetime commitment on rendering nursing care not only as the nurse of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean war but she has served until her very last breath has been consumed.

_though her disbelief on the germ theory has really given an impact on the very first time i read her theory, i simply have to shake my head and shrug my shoulders everytime i recall the incommensurable deeds she has extended, professionally and personally speaking.

_the OM and RRC recognition would never be sufficient for her unwavering effort that has been living not only on her respective era but the mere fact that we are still having her as inspiration and guide, it only proves that she has made her own dwelling place within the individualities of Nursing Students and professionals.
_Environmental theory serves as an envigorating concept that is, even technically odd to the ordinary people, is being realized and a part of the factors for our lives' continuity..
_if i'll be asked to spell florence nightingale, well, i think this is how i'll do it:

Florence nightingale is spelled as:
s-a-n-i-t-a-t-i-o-n,
c-l-e-a-n-l-i-n-e-s-s,
L-i-f-e,
and
u-n-c-o-n-d-i-t-i-o-n-a-l
n-u-r-s-i-n-g c-a-r-e

_i'm also wondering on how many Samson is needed for it to become possible to wreck the pillars that nightingale has built for the Nursing Profession?
...hehehe.. her contibution can't be wrecked even with the fusion of the sirens.

Florence Nightingale's story inspires me a lot. Based from the video that Mrs. Oleresisimo posted in this site and stories, Florence is not an ordinary woman. She was an aristocrat but despite of that, she was very humble. I salute her being a heroine of the nurses. She didn't mind her social status in helping other people and gave her service to anybody who needed her.

As a student, of course I want to be like her in some other way. Professionalism is important but service, for her, is far more important than professionalism. She dedicated her whole life in serving other people than to socialize with other aristocrats in her society.

I am very impressed about the life of Florence Nightingale. Although she was an Aristocrat Victorian woman her love and care to the people who are in need even though rich or poor never changed.

I admire Nightingale a lot in her actions, knowledge and her works. Nightingale have a strong faith to God. I remember the time when she was requested by her friend to be a nurse during the Crimean War she never refused. I knew that being a military nurse is a very difficult work but Nightingale have a strong advocacy to the thing that was given to her.

And the best thing in her life that I like is the works that she gave to every soldiers in the Crimean war that even though its too late at night she never forget to visit her patients and give her care to them. And by that she was called “ The Lady with the Lamp”.

Indeed, I’ve really learned that cleanliness is very important to every people in the community. Her Environmental theory helps a lot it keeps us away from sickness and many more.

We all are very thankful that once in the history of nursing there was once a woman who showed great love and care to every patient. It gives me a strong faith and hope to pursue on my studies as a nursing student. In the future I want to be like Florence Nightingale. I want to follow her footsteps so that someday I would become one of the top nurses in the Philippine history. The works and life of Florence Nightingale amazed me. As we can see Nightingale came from aristocratic Victorian family but it doesn't made her as a hindrance to serve others. When we discussed the life of Nightingale, it was the time i knew that according to her it was a God's calling to render care. And no matter what happened it was her destiny. As a nursing student, Nigtingale serves as my "idol".Aside of caring wounded soldiers, she discovered an environmental problem why some soldiers died. It because of lack of sanitation of their surroundings during the war. Florence Nightingale was not only a skilled nurse but as well as a keen observer. One thing that she can't do is to interact with her patients, she only work and work. But It didn't affect my philosophy to idolize Florence Nightingale.

When I read this article, I realized that in nursing we should practice caring with compassion and sedulous patient care like Florence Nightingale. In our little thing we do, we didn’t know that we are applying Nightingale’s theory. I think everyone must thank Florence Nightingale for her tremendous work. It helps a lot in our daily living not only in the hospital but also in our home.

She has a great influence in each one’s life to improve the quality of care not only in the environment but also in other aspect. She is a good model of all nurses. Her work served as an inspiration for all nurses and like me as a student. Even If she came from Victorian Aristocrat family, she cared for poor and indigent people. In the modern times like now, it is arduous to find like Florence Nightingale. Many people like now are egoistic and reckless. I think it is God’s plan for Nightingale to not enter in a marriage life, for her to help other people. I hope many student nurses like me realize that serving and caring to other people is like serving and loving God.

Thanks Ma’am Dani for sharing your knowledge with us.
God Bless!

This article shows the life of Florence Nightingale.
Information’s that can be use by nursing students that can help them to apply it to their daily life and as a future nurses of our country.
Florence Nightingale is really devoted to her profession. She wants to serve and give the proper caring to her patients. She is an excellent nurse. During her time nurses have a low profile in the society but it remarkably changes by Florence Nightingale. She introduces the nurse-patient interaction.

With her theory we could help ourselves to be more conscious in our daily sanitation.

To prevent us from illness.

Ma'am Oloresisimo this idea is really great...
I can understand the topics really well...
I can apply this theory to my daily life and I could share my thoughts.
thank you for sharing this to me and to your other students.

I’m really greatfull to be one of your student

Again Ma'am Thank you.

Good afternoon Ma'am Danela I appreciate a lot the short film of Florence Nightingale you had made. It makes clearer for me to understand her story. It shows how she was entitled as "Lady with the Lamp". During Crimean War she is providing care for the wounded soldiers and when night comes Florence Nightingale is going around the hospital with her lamp to check her patients. At the beginning of her life she is already a different person. She is an educated which is uncommon for a Victorian woman. I admire her because she believe that she was born to be a nurse and she decided to be fully committed on her job. Her Environmental Theory had a significant help to our daily lives. Her theory states that we need to be aware in condition of our environment which our wellness depends. The proper ventilation, proper disposal of waste and noise. Because of Florence Nightingale she inspires me to pursue my dreams to be a nurse someday. I believe that I can also contribute my own theory in the field of nursing soon.

Thanks ma'am for the short film.

Like Florence Nightingale we can also be a model to other nursing students for us to help other people.I can be defined as one of the admirer and suporter of what Nightingale did for us in the field of nursing without her nurses and nursing course will never be given importance. This short film helps me to understand why Florence Nightingale was entitled the Matriarch of Mother Nursing. Her life and dedication to her work impressed me a lot. Although she belongs to aristocrat Victorian family, her passion, love and care flourished among the poor. Imagine a beautiful and rich woman like her spent her life taking care of the wounded soldiers in the Crimean war. Also try to find out more about what a woman like her wore at the time & whether clean water was available. No doubt her hands got rough & red. How would men have treated her? Also, what weather conditions did she endure? Were there bugs & mosquitoes? What do you think she ate? What kind of bed did she likely sleep on? Where did she go to the bathroom? Just think about every aspect of her life. I think it’s hard for her to adjust and live that kind of life. She grew up without encountering any hardship but she chose to serve humanity.

She also watched over the patients in the army hospital at night, alone and carrying a lamp that’s why she was called the “Lady with the lamp.” This shows her dedication to her work and her passion to help others. The hospital before was dirty but Florence Nightingale was able to change all things. Florence observation, that cleanliness decreased the death rate influenced others to impose sanitation requirements.

She was a nurse who became a hero because of her good heart by helping soldiers. Florence Nightingale’s life was amazing and I could say that she deserves to be in line of history. Let the lamp of her immortal and eternal name burn for centuries to come!

The life of Florence Nightingale motivates me to pursue on my studies as a nursing student. I am also very thankful to our instructor, Mrs. Danela Oloresisimo which helps us to understand more about the life of every theorist. Based on the video we have watched, I would say that the life of Florence Smith Nightingale can be a great influence to all the nurses and future nurses of this generation. Florence Nightingale is a well-educated woman and this lead the way to the discovery of modern nursing. Through her dedication and perseverance of giving care for the sick people, she developed many methods and ways of providing quality care for the sick. Being an aristocrat and public model, I admire Florence Nightingale for being a humble and down-to-earth person. She didn't mind all the riches and luxuries she have, but instead she devote her time and self for the people who needs guidance for the achievement of wellness. Her midnight rounds showed a great resemblance of love and care for the sick. I admire her intellectual capacity because of the incredible thoughts and ideas she shared with her diary and through these writings, a great evidence of dedication is seen from Florence Nightingale. She deserved to be the Mother of Modern Nursing because of her great contributions and wide ranging of thoughts and ideas she have shared for the development of the nursing profession.

I would like to thank Ms. Danela Oloresisimo for giving us such a wonderful background of the life of Florence Nightingale through the video she made. A pleasant morning to you ma’am!!!

The movie you made really touched many people’s heart and mind, most especially the nursing students’. As a first year nursing student, my dream to be a
successful nurse became stronger. I am so much inspired by her way of nursing people, both well and ill. Also her life made me realized that every one of us is equal.

Though Ms.Nightingale came from a very rich family, she chose to serve other people rather than to be a wife of an aristocrat. For her, marrying is like suicide. Inspired by her friend who is a son of their laundry lady, she dreamed of serving the poor and people who are in big need.

It is very nice to be a part of other people’s life.

 I was really amazed and inspired about the life story of Florence Nightingale. I am very proud of her because I can see her eagerness to help other people especially those who really needs nursing care. Despite the of the fact that her whole family is not in favor of her chosen profession, it didn’t stop her to pursue her goals – to provide care to other people. And even though she was an Aristocrat Victorian, she didn’t mind on what other people might say to her. She served the wounded soldier whole – heartedly, it didn’t matter who they are, what their nationality is, or if their unfortunate or well-off, all that she wanted to do is to serve. And for her, serving other people is not just “serving”, it’s serving with love. The term “Lady with the Lamp” is given to her, because during the Crimean War, as she helped those wounded soldiers, she was carrying a lamp, and this lamp became her symbol. Florence Nightingale is a genius! She formulated a theory that is very useful not only in the nursing profession but also in our everyday living. I have gained information about the essence of her environmental theory and which I think that her theory is the foundation of all the nursing theories. She used her environmental theory on providing care on her patients, during those times, when the disease malaria, spread out, she figured out that the environment is the main factor why people get sick. I can say that prevention is better that cure. She really deserves to be called the “Matriarch of Modern Nursing”! After reading textbooks and watching the life story of Florence Nightingale, it made me realized how important nursing is. Nursing profession is not just simply a “profession” – it is a passion. Florence Nightingale became my inspiration to strive hard to achieve my goals in life and I’m hoping that someday I could be like her – a health care provider.

It is not only the profession, our obligations, it is the desire of your heart. She chose to explore her life not only to be an inactive wife of an aristocrat, she want to do more on her life in serving people, in caring people and in loving people.

In the video clips we watched last weak, we see how intelligent, how genius Florence Nightingale is. We see how she cared for the wounded soldier, how she used her knowledge in caring people.

She's the one, Florence Nightingale's story is somewhat different from others. She fight for her passion of caring people. I like her because I'am also fond of writing every scene of my life. When I am watching the clips, it gives me a warmth welcome to my profession. Because of what she did during the Crimean war, she lighten up the life of every soldier, she cured the wounded soldiers and she used her own money to support the needs of the people during her time. She believe and stand for what she know is right and at the end she deserved to have a BIG SPOT on the history.
And I'm so thankful because of her life I realized that I, as a student must stand and believe to the things I can do to serve the people. And many thanks to you Mam for giving us an opportunity to watched the life of our Hero.I know that it would help us a lot in our profession. Thanks again

Florence Nightingale a fine lady born and raised with a silver spoon, is a great example of humility. She was wealthy, well educated and famous because of her roots (aristocrat mother and victorian father), yet she decided to journey on her own and to follow God's calling to her, to serve other people, she serves as a great inspiration to many nurses and many other person of other professions, she used all her knowledge in statistics, management and other field of sciences to improve the quality of care and to fulfill her goal-to give equal treatments to rich and poor people.
Ahe disregarded all her personal needs to serve other people, she serves as a military nurse in the camp in Scutari, Turkey. She served there without fear. She always make dure that the doldiers are comfortable and ok even at night time, so she always do her nitghly rounds with a lamp, this gave her the title Lady with the Lamp . She also wrote different books and researches regarding health dhowing her exceptional knowledge and great minds regarding statistics, among the most popular is The Notes on Nursing . she's also a founder of different nursing schools. With all this contributions to nursing practice, education and research she really deserves to be called the The Mother of Modern Nursing

I am really interested in the life of Florence Nightingale because from my early age i already heard her name but the fact is i only knew a few information about her.
and when we had our film showing it fulfill some question in my mind.like why she has been called as "Lady with the lamp".
From the start i admire Florence and when i knew her aim i really admire her most and i salute her. i was very touched that she choose to help the wounded soldier than to become a wife of an aristocrat. Despite of her status in life she stand her decision to help the wounded soldier although the victorian aristocrat that sorround her disagree on what she's doing. that's why I really love her personality. She is so determined on what she want to do and she stand her own decision.

Florence Nightingale and her theory inspire me to be dedicated on what i am doing and to value the environment or any thing that sorrounds me.
After that film show it implies me to seek the relationship between the environment, patient and nurse. I also agree that Florence Nightingale must be called as a Matriarch of the Modern Nursing.
This theory really enlightened my mind.

I really, really thankful to Ms. Florence Nightingale for she introduced Nursing, that plays a significant role in taking care of every individual. Without Nursing, there will be no Nursing theories develop, to improve the quality of care which the nurses must rendered to their clients, it also leads to decrease the rate of mortality, no nursing students who will study applications for the proper care for the patients, no Nurses and Professionals necessary for the wellness and better life of every sicked and disabled individuals. And without Nursing theories there is, indeed, no Nursing Theorists who contributed and share their knowledge about health problems and
practices essential for the healthy
lives of everyone.

I am a proud fan of Nightingale because inspite of being an aristocrata she had chosen to pursue Nursing not for her own good
but for the safety and healthiness
of every sicked individuals. I admired her strength, courage and her love for the poor. One of her line that touched me most is " Time
will comes that the Poor and Rich be equal. For me, her Passion was really subjected in continuing to Nursing Profession.

I have only 2 Comments for her. First, Her Lack of Communication to a Patient. For us to give a full care, we must give a Feeling of essentiality to them. For their good performance, it also contributed in preventing their worries and anxieties and it develops a good interaction between patient and nurses, necessary for wellness of both part. Last, Her Lack of Ideas about "GERMS". Base on the article that i have read, she has a vast knowledge in all aspects. But "why in that simple case "germs". She did not have any
explanation/evaluation. As an environmental theorist, she must have a deep clarification and wide knowledge about that infectious diseases that she no longer defined as a "Germs"

I salute you Ms. Florence Nightingale for all your sacrifices
in Nursing worked, for it was resulted to an advantageous living from now on. "Please, accept my gratitude for your full effort in Nursing Theories, Nursing Profession and Nursing applications. I assure to you that
it will helps me a lot in rendering care to my patients,, soon...

Florence Nightingale was an extraordinary women. Knowing that she was an aristocrat Victorian, it is unusual for them to take up nursing as a profession but she did. All throughout her life she worked and served the wounded soldiers and other people who needed her help. Maybe it was her passion to serve and care for those who needed her. Her contributions were significant in the field of nursing and creating such theory that can be used in everyday life. Florence Nightingale, "The Lady with The Lamp" was such a legend.

She formulated the Environmental Theory because she observed that it affects the health of the people.Proper sanitation, ventilation and big windows is important in establishing a hospital for the patients to make their recovery shorter in time, and she also make the polar diagram for us to easily understand what to do in curing and treating patient's diseases.

Indeed, Florence Nightingale is an exemplary nurse that serves as a light to nursing profession which is palpable not only on her theory but also on her divine dedication to it. Before I thought that nursing is simply about caring but I knew that it is more than that- it is a way of serving God through serving sick people. What is also astonishing about her is her vast knowledge of different fields like mathematics, literature, philosophy, and many more.

Her life is really inspiring. And thanks to Mrs. 0 for letting us know more about Florence...

Florence NIghtingale`s Life Story is very amusing. No one would do the same thing she did. Her life story inspires me so much. She may live her life in luxury. She could get whatever she wanted. She`s an aristocrat and an educated Victorian too, but she chose to help the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. It was indeed an heroic act. By that, I wanted to become one of her followers. I learned so many things about nursing.
Though she had given many contributions in nursing, she also had imperfections on her works and beliefs. She emphasized that it`s the environment who`s responsible for many diseases. She did`nt embraced wholly the idea of Germ Theory. She also don`t have the proper nurse-patient relationship.

Psychodynamic Nursing

As we all know Hildegard Peplau is the one who proposed the psychodynamic nursing. She focused on the interpersonal relationship of the nurses with the patients. In this theory she also give emphasis on the four phases of this relationship. These are the orientation, Identification, exploitation, and resolution. She also presented the psychological mothering and the different roles of the nurses.

I have no idea why tears suddenly fell from my eyes when I saw Ms. Florence Nightingale taking care of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War- a fight between the English and the Turkish. That's the part in the clip in a cartoon form. It's unusual for me to become teary-eyed because there's nothing dramatic about the scene. Moreover, It'a thing a nurse routinarily do. As I reflect upon the clip, I found out that the reason behind it is perhaps I felt how Florence love her profession, how much she enjoy taking good care of the wounded soldiers- rendering service to them one by one late at night, and how intense the care a nurse can give though their patients are not related to them by blood.

I pictured out that her actions and behavior heightens the evidence that nurses do touch lives and that it does not need plenty of time to become part of someone's life- an hour can be enough.

The life story of Ms. Florence Nightingale was truly inspiring. I would say that her story made a large impact within me. This story made me realize how truly amazing she is. A royal blood woman who undoubtedly lend her nursing care to those people who is infact a stranger to her, a compassionate woman who willingly spent her whole life to the nursing profession and most especially a very kind and humble person who doesn’t look at other people’s difficulties and status in life. This person is really one in a billion, ahaha…but seriously speaking a person like her deserves all the praises in this world.

As a nursing student, her contributions help and will continue to help me in rendering care which is the main focus of nursing. These will serve as the foundation of our knowledge in nursing.

To our beloved Mrs. Danela Oloresisimo, I would just want to thank you for the wonderful clip. It is really much appreciated…..

Its amazing to see that though there are already several movies of Nightingale, there are still hundreds of people out there who want to increase the record. Plus, people are really spending their money to get a copy of those movies. This just signifies that Nightingale is not only important in nursing but to most of the people in the world as well.

I salute her for valuing education because though she know that she does not anymore need to be educated, she preferred to study like a man and that's a decision that is very unusual for a woman to do during her time.

How I wish that before she died, I have personally seen her and that when she died, I was there. It's a great honor to be a fan of her-- No regrets.

Thank you Ma'am dani for gathering this movie clips for us first year students. Through this, I have come to realize that this profession I planned to internalize and I chose to take is the profession that I wanted and that I am not following what my parents wants me to be and what course is in.

I would also like to thank those generous people who shared some of these clips to our professor, Mam Oloresisimo. Without your help, It would be hard for us students to convey how really important Nightingale is and for the teachers to help the students to fully understand her life. Once again, Thank You...

Although sources about Florence Nightingale's life varies in many aspects, each of them points out only one thing...that Florence Nightingale is great.

She is a portrait of a unique woman, a woman who pursued to study and persevered to become a nurse despite of her aristocracy.

Her "Environmental Theory" had helped billions of people and is continuing to help us in our daily living.

She, indeed, has helped, has inspired and has touched the lives of many people. She really deserved all the awards she had, and she still deserve so much more. She truly deserved to be the "Matriarch of Modern Nursing".
Imagine life without her theory!

Nightingale was really an exceptional model of modern nurses nowadays. its really a matter of destiny and luck to be an aristocrat, to belong in a prolific family, and to have an education which was very rare for the women at the time to have but still, she followed the "calling" and left all her riches. it's quit a long list to mention all that i admired about her -- this box might not be enough--it's just one of the many things that strikes me as being very Florence nightingale admirer.

The life of Florence Nightingale is really interesting. She is such an inspiration for a student like me. Her contribution to nursing profession were really are a great help for the nursing practice. I also admire her perseverance in taking carer of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. She was dubbed as "Lady with the Lamp" because of her nightly rounds to check if there's something wrong with her patients. She really deserves to be called as the Matriarch of Nursing Profession.
Though Florence came from an aristocratic family, she chose to serve other people instead of attending parties and socializing with other aristocrats. She made her life meaningful instead of being wasted. She went to school to have education even if some people think she's not in the right mind because during that time women were not educated instead they just stay in their house and be just a plain housewife.
Her Environmental theory was also an accomplishment that made her popular. I just don't understand why she didn't believe the germ theory. She didn't elaborate much about the "organic materials" that causes illness. But all in all, Florence Nightingale was a really great woman.

The Life of Florence Nightingale is a total accomplishment.
It is very interesting, and it is very significant in the nursing
profession, because as we all know, without her, we don't have
what we call "nurses". She had contributed much in nursing
practice, research and education.
I like her life so much,
because she is an inspiration. She is an aristocrat, and as an
aristocrat, women are not educated, just men. women are just
princess and queen at their home. But her father give her a
reputable education, and after finishing the course that her father
wants her to take, she take the course that she wants, and that's
nursing. She is called The Lady with the Lamp, because of her
environmental theory that was used on the crimean war.
She found out that the soldiers are dying not because of the war,
but because of their diseases that was caused by the dirty surrounding.
That's why she made her theory, that says that "a clean environment
makes a healthy person".
For me her life is a big success.

As a 1st year nursing student, it was very unusual to my ears when I heard the name of Florence Nightingale because I have no idea who was she?

I’m so glad that we study her life on our TFN subject by means of film showing in which I have scoop some informations about her life.

It was very astonishing for me to know that she was the Matriarch of Modern Nursing. . . It was very cool to think that the daughter of a Victorian family would struggle for her goal to become a nurse even though it was not very sophisticated by that time. It was very uncommon for a wealthy woman to bend down her knees just to serve and provide care for the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.

I learned that “a healthy living is by means of a healthy environment.”
As a follower of Florence Smith Nightingale, I will apply her Environmental Theory to myself and others. She is truly an inspiring person.

I hope that there will be other film showing of different nursing theories.

The life and death of Florence gave me an idea of what being a nurse really is. She inspired me to take a new role of caring for other people. Before, it didn't really matter to me whether I graduate or not, for me nursing is boring and lifeless. But when I learned about a certain woman dubbed simply as "The Mother of Nursing", it hit me like a speeding bullet, the greatest thing a man could ever do to another is to give out his life for him, and that's what Florence did, it urged me take a new path of caring for others. The life story of Florence Nightingale is such an inspirational story especially to us, students of BSN, who can really apreciate it. Her works are great yet simple. It's nice to know that an aristocratic victorian woman wants her life to become more useful than having no worth in being just a wife of an aristocrat. Despite the danger of the Crimean war, she still went there bravely and cared for the injured soldiers. She dedicated her life to nursing profession.Practically, many nursing students now wants to become a nurse because of money, but Nightingale pursued to become a nurse not because of having money or fame, instead, she wants to become a nurse to render care to those who are sick and to change the impression and perceptions of the people about nurses and nurses' job.

I am also inspired the way she chose her profession and become devoted on it rather than spending the rest of her life with a man to love and a family to care of. Florence Nightingale's story is really amazing. She is an Aristocrat Victorian. They don't need to work because they are very wealthy and no need to study because only males are allowed to in her time. But Nightingale still has a desire to study and be a nurse even if nurses before are treated as maids. She didn't give-up even if her father is not in favor of her dream. Her desire and willingness is really amazing. She was really determined that's why his father was convinced. One more impressive thing about her is that she served the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. Supposedly, the soldiers are the one to serve her but she kneel to them and took good care of them. She have proved that the rich and poor are equal. Her greatest contribution is the Environmental Theory wherein she have saved the lives of the soldiers from Malaria.
It was not only applied in the crimean war but also in education, practice and research. Thanks to Nightingale beacause we are using her theory in our everyday life anytime, everywhere.

Florence Nightingale is so amazing! She was such a woman who can possibly change everything. She has a good heart for she cured and served wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.

This "Lady with the Lamp" deserved to be called a heroine because she saved many lives and did not expect anything in return.

Nightingale inspired me to pursue my dream to be a nurse.

florence nightingale was born on 1820 and died on 1910. she was from an aristocratic family, because her father was a victorian. during their times, aristocrat are not required to study to work hard because they are already rich so they do not need to work hard. nightingale is the most different among them, she went to school. because of her excellence in writing and statistics, she became a writer and statistician. she is also a feminist. florence study in a nursing school and she became a nurse, a professional nurse actually. she helped the wounded soldiers in the crimean war together with mary grant seacole whom she became her rival in the title mother of modern nursing. florence nightingale deserves to be the mother of modern nursing because she has educational background.rather than mary grant seacole whom has no educational background and has no nursing license.
florence nightingale during her time can be said as a genius. with her strong advocacy, she has the charaCteristics to become a president because she is a good leader.

When I finally watched it, I realized that she deserves to be the Mother of Modern Nursing not only because of her contributions but also because of what she showed during her life as a nurse. Now, I'm very thankful to Ms. Florence Nightingale for giving me an idea on how to be a good nurse and giving me strength in pursuing my dreams.

Well, as I was reading this article of Florence Nightingale, I remembered the movie ‘Pearl Harbor’. In that movie I’ve seen the character Evelyn as to compare to Florence Nightingale. In spite in what she had taking through, such as many lives are in her hands, she still handle her self to be calm, and I admire them for being that. All I can say is I am now a big fan of Florence Nightingale. For me, she is a real genius, a savior and a heroine or a superwoman. Actually, the definition of nurse in my vocabulary reached the highest aspect of respect. I am proud of being a part of this profession, and I can say that no more regrets is here in my mind. I can’t imagine how she been through with everything she been through. Of course she’s an aristocrat! She could skip the moments of dilemma during war, and be safe and healthy fretting with nothing, but still she chose to be with the dying and the wounded. She is such a noble person and I just simply wish I can be like her. Actually not absolutely like what she is, but I just simply wish I can’t be and do whatever she one calmly and heroically.

Thanks Ms. Oloresisimo for introducing Ms. Nightigale..

What I’ve watched was a series of different versions of Florence Nightingale’s movie. Based in what I’ve seen, modern nursing started through her. She is a real aristocrat because it is also being observed the movie. Actually, the lines of the characters are not so clear in me. It is hard to understand their accent used, but through their actions I was a bit clarified. I admired her attitude because she is patient, hardworking and down-to-earth. Carrying a lamp, I visualized my self as her. I imagined me visiting each and every patients half unconscious lying in their beds. She is such a noble person being responsible enough to do her job orderly. Being in the savage world of dying during the war, she still handle the situation and done the necessary task to be acted like to be calmed.

The Life of Florence Nightingale

Her life is remarkably unbelievable it's is so interesting that it could never happen in real life except for her.
Her life inspires all the nurses and to the nursing students.
They can apply Florence Nightingale's
values and influences.
Florence Nightingale is a woman that is committed to nursing profession.
Her mother was an aristocrat while her father was a victorian,so it anly means that her family is rich and at the same time she can be educated.
But in her time there was no equal treatment for the women and men.In otherwise there was a discrimination.Men have all the rights to be educated while women are just a housekeeper or just a wife. But Florence Nightingale pursue herself to her father to go to school and learn.
But her chosen profession "nursing" is just a vocational coarse then but she finished this vocation and make it a educational training and it has a large influenced in our profession "nursing".
Florence Nightingale loves to write she is really good in writing and she is very systematic person.
Her plans is well organized.
She help the soldiers during in the Crimean war and she observed most of her patients dying not by wounds but by disease Cause by mosquito bites so she control and prevent this to happen by making the place clean.and the percentage of the soldiers dying became lesser.
This is her theory "the environmental theory" and it is really applicable in our daily life. And Can help nus to prevent us from illness.
She took care for the patients really well. And the nurses must be like her.
Florence Nightingale died on August 13,1910 she was at the age of 90.
She had many awards She is the first woman granted the order of merit and the royal red cross.

Ma'am thank you for this wonderful article.
God bless..

Florence Nightingale is such a talented person. Imagine she has a great knowledge about mathematics, sciences, politics, languages, philosophy, history, economics and many more. She is not just an ordinary woman in her time because it is not common for rich women like her to study on different aspects of life if you have enough money to stay competent in their times. They only have the tendency to be housewives, but Nightingale is different, all her life she dedicated it on studying and analyzing different problems especially concerning the environment.

She developed and formulated the Environmental Theory which really helps the nursing profession and even in our daily practice/lives.

I salute the dedication and perseverance of Florence Nightingale to formulate her theory and even her burden to help and cure the needy.. Her life story really impress and inspire me to love my "proffession".

Thus, without Florence Nightingale we don't have our profession-nuring profession..Thanks to her,it is all by her that we have nursing..

In the world of humanity, we are looked upon the essential in life may brought to us by CARING as the main ingredient in nursing... Serving yourself to others will fulfill GOD'S purpose and will ever feel the you make a difference. THe impact you have in people's lives will forever remain.

This story reveals the true essence of nursing as improving the quality of care. It is a story where it all begins, and become a legend.

The movie was truly great, it was very inspiring.. As watched it, it really inspired me to finished my studies, strive my best to the fully, and to become like her someday who saves life..

Florence Nightingale belongs to an Aristocrat Victorian family, but it is not the hindrance to pursue her want to do in life, to become a nurse, and serve the people who are in great need. She focus and spend her whole life in her nursing profession. I think she really deserve the title as the "MAtriarch of Modern Nursing"..

During Crimean War, there is only one name who bears it all. It was nightingale as " The Lady with the lamp" who became a heroine and famous in Great Britain and many other countries. I want to be like her, with her consoling hands, she provide care for the wouded soldiers.

As a student, I learn a lot with the life story of her. That nursing is not just providing care for the wounded and sicked people but giving your whole heart and dedication for your work, and that love is always there for serving the humanity. Her life was a history, a history that surely will live forever...

Ma'am Danela, thank you for giving us a chance to watch this great film. I know that many students like us change the whole image of nursing from yesterday.. That today, we are blessed that you are our instructor in TFN who made us grow everyday and for sharing your wholesome knowledge for us to be able to understand..

I've always imagined Florence Nightingale as a visionary...and a hero of her time. For she dedicated her life to the fullest in serving others. Though considered as one who belongs to a rich family, she didn't consider it as a boundary to serve and commit herself in helping others. She formulated the Environmental Theory which was a great contribution to Nursing Profession. She serves as an inspiration, not just to a common individual but also to us all.

Thank you very much po for giving us the opportunity to watch this video clip. I myself, was amazed by her life story, it inspires me to be like her, to love my profession and to commit myself in serving others as well. From then on, she serves as my role model in this life of service.

',. Good afternoon . .

"Florence Nightingale as the lady with the lamp is the theorist that change the world of nursing."

She's the great foundation of nursing!

Her life story is inspiring. Her life story is really incomparable. She, as an aristocratic-Victorian woman, gives me an inspiration and best of luck to pursue my dreams and to believe in myself and in my own abilities.

She proved to me that nothing is impossible as long as we believe in ourselves.

She will be my guiding light in pursuing and achieving my dreams and my own profession as a nurse.

Thank you ma'am for sharing us the life story of Florence Nightingale.
